Career Pathways: Susie Gray Director of Property
Susie Gray has been Director of Property since 2016. During this time, Susie has led several large projects, including 18 Mole Business Park and has responsibility for the current development of the new Silverwood inpatient service. Susie’s role as part of the Executive team is to support the wider needs of the Trust and to interpret those needs. Susie’s passion for property began with her graduating with a BSc degree in Urban Land Administration from Portsmouth and following university her first role was as a Graduate Surveyor. Susie went on qualifying as a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 1990. At John Laing Property, Susie was a board Director of Laing Property with an advisory role to the development directors and was also a Non-executive Director of Equion (a Laing, Hyder JV), leading the property element of Equions’s successful bid for the Surrey County Council property out-sourcing opportunity and as Head of Real Estate, overseeing the restructuring of the portfolio to support the organisational change and subsequent sale of the construction group. In the early 2000s, Susie was a Portfolio Director at Land Securities, the largest property company in the UK, and developed a new business concept for short-term property leasing that she led into reality and successfully achieved a customer satisfaction rating of 50% higher than traditionally let properties. In 2009, Susie started her own consultancy providing corporate real estate. Her clients included Henley Business School, University of Reading and Metropolitan Police Service.
Susie joined SABP as Director of Property and her role as part of the Executive team is to support the delivery of our Strategy and translate the needs of the services into high quality care and healing environments that support the wellbeing of both people who use our services, carers and staff. This covers everything from gardening to the construction of new buildings. During her career, Susie has been an active member of the Real Estate community, previously serving as UK President of CoreNet (a non-profit association with nearly 10,000 members across 50 countries, that provides development opportunities), and developed a new MBA module in Real Estate for Henley Business School.

NMC Recommended Title Change from Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) to Nursing Associate Student As we continue to grow our Nursing Associate workforce, I would like to inform you that the NMC has recommended a title change for learners leading to registration as a Nursing Associate. The Nursing Associate role was launched in early 2017, using terms for learners such as a “Trainee Nursing Associate” (TNA) and “Nursing Associate Apprentice” due to training programmes utilising the apprenticeship route.
From 2019, training to become a Nursing Associate has been fully regulated by NMC approved programmes. Thus, being educated under NMC standards. NMC students are supervised under the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment. Therefore, the NMC recommends the terms “Nursing Associate Student” or “Student Nursing Associate” as opposed to “Trainee Nursing Associate” . As a Trust, we have a decided to use the title “Nursing Associate Student” irrespective to the route leading to registration as a Nursing Associate. I kindly ask for you to share this information and practice this recommended title change within your service and teams. Adrian Mahamoodally Learning Environment Lead – Nursing Apprenticeships
